Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Non-compte law

I starte my job on 3/15/04. The day I starting working there I had to sign a non-compete form. I sell courses to accountants and only accountants since they require that every year. My job cut my pay by 6k last month. I was forced to find employmenet elsewhere. I got a job with FMU online. The sell univeristy education to people. Now my company does have that divison but I was never trained for it and did not even work in the same building. Today I tell them that I'm leaving and going there. They not only threatened to fire me and did so...they also said if I went there they would seek legal action for breach of contract. I don't understand. I do not even deal with the university side of things at my old company. I'm at an entry level position and have no clue what goes on at my company. They are even not paying me for the 2 sick days I took this week. They said I was at interviews which I was not at. Can they do this?

Re: Non-compte law

The facts you have provided are a bit confusing, please clarify which entity you signed a non-compete agreement with and whether you subsequently went to work for another employer in a competing business.
