Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Office Relocated - Can I collect ??

I transferred down to Fla 3 yrs ago and moved to a location that was only 3 minutes from the office to which I am required to report to every morning. My company has been buying up all of the independent vendors of our product and has now closed the location nearest my home and is using another location that was acquired. This office is about 40 miles farther away from the original office that I was working out of and it is very hard for me to get there on time everyday as I have to get my son to school no earlier than 7:45 and have to be at work at 8:00am. I have been told many times that I am going to have to be there on time everyday or else. Are there any laws that would benefit me in my current situation?? Like if I get fired because I am late or can I demand to work out of my home (I am on the road everyday traveling to clients and there are many other tech who start the day out of there homes)??

There is no law which would require your Employer to allow you to work from home, nor is there any law that would expressly require your employer to allow you to be late b/c of your childcare situaton. As a result, if your employment is terminated, the only basis you would have for a claim is if your employer treated you differently from other ees b/c of your gender, race, age (if over 40), nationality, disability, and/or religion.
