Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Overtime

I work at a supermarket and the work week goes from sat to fri. I am scheduled to work mon-frid which gives me a total of 40hrs. Tues and wed of that week was busy so my manager kept me on the register. I went home later than i was scheduled to leave. Now, it is Thurs or Fri and i will have overtime if i work the scheduled hrs for friday, so my manager makes me go home early that friday. He cuts my friday short. My question is, is that legal, just because he does not want to pay me overtime. Also what if i am off on sat and sun and work mon to fri, but there is a mandatory company meeting that takes place on sat. According to company's policy i am being paid for attending that hour meeting. So i will have 40hrs for my mon-fri shift plus the 1hr for the meeting which gives me a total of 41hrs but my employer does not want to pay me that extra 1hr, so he adjust my time in order for me to have 40hr at the end of the week. Is that also right?

Re: Overtime

Your employer may not be complying with the Fair Labor Standards Act, which requires that you be paid at time and a half your regular rate of pay for all hours worked in excess of forty (40) in a workweek. Accordingly, please call me at (561) 447-8888 for further assistance.
