Owed Commissions
Board of Directors has a mortgage net branch for his company. I worked for him for 8 months. Had 2 mortgage loans that I originated and agreed w/him that I would finish up. Did so, now not comensating me on the two loans that I closed successfully w/in 30 days of my leaving the company. How can I still get paid? Approx $2000.00 in commissions. Located in Florida

Re: Owed Commissions
Under Florida law, earned but unpaid commissions constitute "wages" which an employer is obligated to pay upon termination. Accordingly, if your employer has failed to pay commissions to which you are entitled, a cause of action would lie for "quantum meruit" against the Company. Similarly, Florida law provides a statutory entitlement to attorneys fees if and when you should prevail in such a case.
