Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
not paid for hours put in at work
my husband started working for a security company. he gets paid bi-weekly and is missing over 35 hours that he has worked from two of his payroll checks. we have sent a spread sheet and a letter to the girl in charge of payroll and brought this error to her attention. she has been avoiding my husband and the one time she had talked to him, she basically said that hes out of luck. is there any law against her actions or what can he do without losing his job?

Re: not paid for hours put in at work
Yes to both. Yes there is a law against compensating employees for hours worked. It is the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). It is a federal law that gives rights to employees and protects them from treatment like what you are reporting.
Also the FLSA provides protection against retaliation from employers who fire employees for seeking enforcement of their rights.
Since you have made contact with the employer to no success, you may want to contact an attorney to see what are your next options.
