Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
not paid by out of state employer
I was hired by a construction company from Texas to do skilled labor at a restaurant in Orlando, Florida(where I live). I worked for this company for about 4 weeks. I was paid for the first 2 weeks but have yet to receive a check for the last 2 weeks(been about 3 weeks since my job ended because it was completed and the business is now open). Calls to my former supervisor now go unanswered. What is the statute of limitations in my case to file suit or contact the Dept. of labor. Also, what rights do I have and what would be my best recourse.

Re: not paid by out of state employer
You are entitled to be paid for all hours worked. In fact, you may be entitled to not only the pay you have not received, but an equal amount on top of that as liquidated damages. I handle many cases like your's a contingency basis (meaning I only get paid if I successfully get you your money). If you'd like to discuss your rights further, feel free to call me at 877-456-WAGE.
