Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

un paid vacation time at lay off

I was laid off by my employer on April 21st, 2005. I was lay off because my position was closed with the company. I am contacting you from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

At the time of my termination I have accrued 4 days of vacation. When I asked my former employer about my remaining vacation days he told me that his company do not pay benefits to an employee that was terminated. Am I wrong to think that vacation days that are accrued while working belong to the employee?

Re: un paid vacation time at lay off

Florida has no law on this unfortunately. As a result, ERs are required to provide any vacation time or pay for any vacation benefits that might be offered.
