Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Can a past employer talk bad about you to people that you once worked with and can he try to prevent you from gaining new employment? He has talked bad about me for no reason other than he's mad that I quit, he also called and told someone that they better not hire me.

I own my own tri-axle dump truck and he was my broker, I quit and now he's talking lies about me and telling people not to hire me, can he do this?

Thank You

Doug Roggow
