Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

paycheck deductions

I asked about the expenses from our paycheck. This is not our truck. We do not own or lease it is a company truck that he is employed to drive for them following all there routes and what he is told to do. We are not paying for this truck, he isn't even allowed to bring it home when he gets aload back to the terminal. This is why I don't understand how they can make him pay for expenses on it. We also can't deduct these expenses on his income tax because he has to turn in all the receipts for what has been paid out.

Re: paycheck deductions

They can't "make him pay." The question is what the agreement is as to how he is paid. If the agreement is that hios pay would be determined based on, in part, a deduction of certain expenses, then that is the agreement. You would report as income the net figure (after the deduction of the "expenses" since that is what was recorded as the pay -- not the gross figure. That is why you don't take the expenses as a d3eduction.
