Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Paycheck delays

I work at a doctors hospital and I receive my paycheck from the Doctor himself online (E-billing). The Doctor has not been paying me on time in the past 3 paychecks. I am supposed to receive my paycheck every other Friday however as an example, today I was scheduled to receive a paycheck but did not get one. I have paged the doctor three times but he is not responding. Is there any labor law in the state of Florida that protects employees from this type of ignorance?

Re: Paycheck delays

There's no specific recourse under Florida Statutes or case law, unless you are being shorted overtime compensation or your pay is falling below the minimum wage. If its just a matter of them being late with your check, its typically an internal matter and your options are limited, but looking for another job is about the only practical step that can prevent you getting in a jam. Of course, if they fail to pay you altogether, that is a different situation.
