Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Physical Threats at work

I was a manager of a department. The Director (my boss) asked me to sit in on a review for one of our staff. In this review, he told the person that her work ethics were like black people. They drive fancy cars and have nice clothes, but have messy houses and bad work ethics.

Also, on more than one occasion, he verbally threatened to kick my a**.

After reporting to the CEO of the company and little being done, and after continued threats, I resigned. After thinking about it, I decided to complain again and keep my job. A meeting was scheduled for the next day.

That afternoon my boss told me that if he lost his job he would come after me. Also, my wife works for the same company. He stated that he would go after her as well. He also stated that he knew where I lived and where my daughter worked.

I just decided to quit. My wife still works there because we need the money.

I have the documentation of my original complaint.

Do I have any recourse?

He was hired by the company in Feb, 2008 and stated that he wanted all original staff gone. I was one of the last and feel I was targeted. Especially after reporting his remarks about black people in the employee review.

He also harrassed me about my religion.
