Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
Picking up last paycheck
After my daughter was born I decided to go back to work. In April I started my job working as a housekeeper. I was doing very well, but after a few weeks my daughter got sick I had to take some time off. Then I got sick that following week. When I contacted my employer she was not very understanding. She was very rude. To the point where I quit. So when I tried to pick up my last check there was always some reason why I could not get it. Finally around July I was very frustrated and contacted them yet again and received another excuse. When I asked why and expressed my frustration the other employee on the line asked me why I was arguing with her and said that the attitude was going to hold up the process. I still have not received my money is there anything I can do for them holding onto my check?

File a small claim. Actually, if you hire a lawyer there is a law in Florida that would require them to pay your legal bills. The amount is probably too small to warrant a lawyer's involvement, however.
