Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Need Help Preparing for Pro Se FL Unemployment Appeal

I have a FL unemployment appeal hearing next week and need some advice. My employer changed my status from full-time to contractor because they didn't have enough work to justify my position, and they haven't offered me any work in months--so even though I'm still on their books, I went from 40 hr/week to 0. They've denied my unemployment claim on the basis that I'm an active employee (as in, I have active status, not as in I'm actively working--I haven't worked or enjoyed benefits in almost 4 months).

Everything was done over the phone, so I have no paper trail (except for a few follow up e-mails I sent after the phone conversations). I've contacted a few lawyers, but they're either unable to help, too expensive, or too scared to go against the company. What should I present to prove that I am unemployed (in practice if not in technicality) and that I qualify for unemployment benefits?

I can probably help you. I charge $500 flat fee for these types of hearings. I think based upon the facts you are entitled to your unemployment. Feel free to call or e-mail me with any questions.
