Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

My previous manager is giving me a bad reference by saying bad things about me I can get him on tape. I will want to sue if possible.

He is not sticking to the law which is just say my last position held, date of employment and if I am rehireable or not. Will it be possible for me to sue if he says anything outside of the guidelines of last position held, date of employment and if I am rehireable

There is no law that requires an employer to limit comments to last position held, date of employment and if I am rehireable or not. Nothing. An employer can provide whatever truthful information or opinion that he or she wants. In addition, it is, under certain circumstances, a crime to record others without their knowledge and consent.
