Re: rate of pay
Your employer legally should not have reduced your pay after the work was already performed. The practical problem, however, is whether you legally want to incur the cost of attempting to recover any monies that you may be owed for the difference in pay.
Re: rate of pay
You should be paid the same rate for the work you performed, unless you were told in advance that the rate would change and you agreed to the change.
It is possible that the tax rate was different for your last check, but otherwise I can't tell from the limited information what happened.
You should ask the employer for an explanation. Find out specifically if the pay rate changed. If it did, why? If not, why was the paycheck amount different?
If you feel you are being treated unfairly, you can call the US Dept. of Labor, Wage and Hour Division, for help. The Tampa office is 813.288.1242. There are also offices in Miama, Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando and Jacksonville. Call the one closest to you.
Good luck.
