Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Reassignment

I am a contracted employee at a hospital. My contract states that I am contracted for this one particular hospital in a hospital network. I currently work night shift. I was told by the nurse manager that I was now needed on dayshift more than night shift. I told the manager that I did not want to work dayshift because I like nights and I've been working night for 10yrs now. This is the reason that I signed a contract for night shift. I was told a 3days ago that if I didn't go to the dayshift that I would have to go to a different hospital in the network. I was not told before signing the contract that I could be sent to another facility at any time otherwise; I would have thought about it more before signing. The only mention of anything similar to that in my contract says I may be sent to another like skilled area. Can I be forced to go to the other hospital even if my contract does not specifically state that I have to do so?

Re: Reassignment

Possibly. Sounds vague, but without a thorough review of your contract and situation it would be difficult to accurately advise you.
