What can i do
I have recently been denied
unemployment compensation. I left my job after over
two years of employment because my hours had been cut from forty hours to
just over twenty hours as well as my hourly rate being reduced from $9.00 hr
to $7.50 hr. The hourly rate was supposed to be restored to $9.00 hr after four weeks but instead after the four weeks the manager announced a new office wide pay scale. All employees would make 5.15 an hour with a small commission. I left the job and filed for unemployment. When the manager was contacted by the unemployment office he claimed he had no idea why i quit and he never heard from me again, which both are false. His statement resulted in my claim being denied without anyone contacting me. My question is Can i take any action against my past employer because for causing me to lose over $2,000 in benefits?

You can file an appeal of the denial of your claim but that's it. Moreover, you are unlikely to prevail in an unemployment appeal because it appears that you voluntarily left your employment, which would disqualify you from benefits.

Based on the clarification that you left your employment on your own (that is voluntarily and not fired by the company or otherwise layed off), you are not entitled to unemployment when you voluntarily leave work. You can try to appeal the decision of the unemployment compensation, but it is unlikely to be successful.
