Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Rental property ownership transfer - only employee not retained.

A maintenance man, who had received good work evaluations, but who had recommended improvements needed to property, was the only employee laid off and not retained by the new owners of a rental property. Is there any recourse available?

Help appreciated - man has lost his job and his apartment. Thank you.

probably not much can be done for your maintenance man who was fired with a change of ownership. There is no law that would prevent a new employer from randomly firing people and then hiring its own "team." Of course if your maintenance man was fired because of his age (over 40), race, national origin, gender or disability then maybe you need to talk to the EEOC or an employment lawyer. last, if he is applying for unemployment that free rent could have or should have been reported as income and could raise his benefits (and/or his tax bill).
