Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Who is responsible for paying an employee? I work for a City and did detail work for a festival the police department was recruiting worker to work security for this event. The company went out of business and the city is refusing to pay.

So you did work for a contractor of the city? Were you an employee? There may be a basis to go after the city if the benefited from the work you did.
