Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
I have been retaliated against after questioning religious discrimination in the form of constructive termination. I also feel as if questioning safety protocol contributed to a hostile work environment. I was a manager for 12 years . On December 10, 2009, during a meeting with HR, I questioned if the discrimination was investigated, the mis-information about my status, the demotion and retaliation. During the meeting they threatened to fire me. That afternoon I felt I had no other option than to resign. I filed with the EEOC in January and in the meantime, I was receiving unemployment as AWI ruled I had made several attempts to maintain employment and the company was at fault. The company then decided to sue for what I had collected so far and was also appealing to stop payments altogether. During the telephone hearing the company changed their minds and withdrew their appeal. I have a timeline of events and heard that although the EEOC case may take a while, that I may be able to get a right to sue letter and bypass the EEOC investigation. I need representation for this matter.
