Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Retirement

I have been told that if you quit and do not give a 2 week notice that the company can take your retirement.

Is this true. Based on policies of company? Take the share of retirement that they have contributed?

Can you help?

Re: Retirement

If you are asking about company contributions to a 401k plan then the answer is no you will not lose those benefits. Some companies do have vesting requirements that you do not vest in company contributions until you have worked a certain amount of time. The vesting schedule is set out in the plan documents and is not affected by your giving or not giving two week notice.

Re: Retirement

No - there are laws which specifically address retirement benefits. It depdends, however, on how long you were employed, etc. Please contact an employment or benefits attorney at once to determine your rights and feel free to follow up with further questions.
