Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
Safety issues at the workplace. personal injury?
I work for a world-wide, multi-billion dollar pest control company, tenting houses. Tenting includes lifting a tarp so it stradles your shoulders, balanced by your neck and bringing it to the roof of a building. The tarps weigh 200 to 250 pounds. Sometimes the tarps must be carried to the second story of a house, which is difficult, to say the least. The people with seniority in my department, having started in the tenting division, all have moved to other areas due to injury, either back, neck or knees. Currently out of the four-man crew who tent, three are out on injury (including myself). A new man was hired and injured himself on his first job. We have repeatedly asked the branch manager to buy a lift and the answer is always "no". I/we feel safety issues are being grossly ignored, not only in what I have stated but other issues as well. Is there any legal recourse to this situation and possible compensation for the personal injury ?

Re: Safety issues at the workplace. personal injury?
Based on what you're saying, it appears that your employer is ignoring crucial workplace safety laws. If you can prove that the injuries are work-related, then you may be able to recover damages for those injuries.
If you're in the Broward, Dade, Palm Beach tri-county area, I can help you.
