Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
Salary employee compensation for overtime
I would like to know the limits for the hours worked by a salaried employee in the state of Florida. I have been told that salaried employees are 24 hours a day 7 days a week including during earned vacation days. Is this true? What are the legal limits an employer can expect a salaried employee to work?

Re: Salary employee compensation for overtime
I know of few limits on the number of hours an employer exempt from the fair labor standards act (flsa) can be asked to work in the state of florida. There are some federal laws limiting the number of hours people in the transportation industry can work. Florida does limit the number of hours a person under 18 years of age can work. Please note that because an employer pays an employee on "salary" does not mean that in all cases the person should not have been paid hourly and eligible for overtime. Only those employees who meet the specific exemptions listed in the FLSA can legaly be paid a "salary" and all other employees must by law be paid by the hour and paid time and a half for all overtime hours.
