Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
My sister-in-law was pulled into the office the other day and told by her boss that she was going to be fired because of her sister, that no longer works there, if her sister keeps making comments towards her. Ever sine her sister who worked there for 10 years was fired, they have been harassing and discriminating against her. She does her job she has no complaints agaisnt her job only about her sister. Not only that ther is numerous other occasions with the same threats to her regarding her sister. Now Jodi, My sister in law got badly burned by oil from the grill on her forearm. Another worker splattered it, accidently. They made jodi wash dished with this burn. She all ready told them of this incident and that it was getting infected. They still made her wash dishes with hot water and soap. But the harrassment because of her sister has been getting out of control. is there a case to take to court? Not only is she being harrassed but the sister that is all ready fired was before she got fired. they told her she could not drink montain dews on her breaks, lunch, anytime. So really im trying to find if we have any type of case to take to court against them for discrimination and harrassment because they do not like her sister.

Probably not. If she has been injured on the job, she should get work comp treatment for the burn. If her sister is causing problems because she is there even though the sister has been fired, then the employer can legitimately terminate her.
