Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
slander or more?
On Feb. 11, 2004 I was accused by my store manager of stealing and being a liar. I was accused of stealing sales for the 2 o/o commision's. Then when I denied it and stated it wasn't true, the manager called me a liar. And if he would have pulled the sales reports for prior to commision sales he would have seen that my sales had not changed. I was the top sales person there. And he know that.
He would not listen to anything I had to say, and I felt I did not deserve to be treated like that I walked out.
This all sees to have come to light three weeks after I had call and filed a complant with the wage and labor board. The complant states that they were taking overtime and carring it on to the next week, so that they would not have to pay the time and half. I can not say for 100 o/o that this is why all of this happened. But I have heard from other employees that sales reports have been ran and some employee's have claimed sales that they just could not have made. And nothing has been said to them.

Re: slander or more?
Not slander, but if your ER terminated you because, even if only in part because, you filed a complaint about your OT, their action would be illegal. This doesn't mean its a cut and dry case, but it sounds like you need a consultation to flush out the specific facts. I'd be happy to assist you and can be reached at (305) 755-9441 for further assistance.
