Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

No SS#...No money???

I have worked for some people for about a year and always got paid by personal check...I have since left and they wont pay me because they think because I dont have a SS# they can do what they want....my question is...can they do this.....do I have rights even tho I have no SS#...will I get into legal trouble if I persue this matter and report them...??

Please help
