Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Taxes withheld by Employer

My employer withheld taxes from my paycheck for 1998. I was her employee and in no way an Indepedent Contractor. When time came to give me my W-2 form, she told me that she needed to give me a 1099 becuase her accountant had forgotten to report my taxes to the IRS. I knew that was a lie but I need the job so I took the 1099. I ended up owing the IRS and she ended up avoiding her liability. What can I do now?

Re: Taxes withheld by Employer

You have several options, including making a demand of your ex-employer, talking to the IRS or seeking legal help from an attorney. As these issues are two year old now, I advise you take some action as soon as possible.
