Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
I was a teacher assistant on a year to year contract. My contract always ended the last day of school and was renewed a week prior to school beginning. I was not told that I had a position for the following year, an opportunity arose, I applied and interviewed for the job. This was the middle of June, the end of June beginning of July, I received a call asking if I was still interested. The middle of July, my employer telephoned me at home, reamed me for not telling her that I was interviewing, told me how unprofessional it was of me and that they would not be renewing my contract due to it. I do have this in writing. Needless to say, I didn't get the job I interviewed for (even though I thought I did) and I got fired my job. Can she do this?
