terminating employee for lying about whereabouts when out sick, late, @ dr.

Is an employer within their rights to terminate an employee for lying about where they are when out of the office i.e. saying they are at dr. appointment when they are in court for DUI.

If the employee is at-will, then he/she may be terminated for any non-discriminatory reason or for no reason. However, if the employer is a contract employee, employed for a specific term, he/she may only be terminated in accordance with the contract, wither pursuant to a provision or if he/she is in breach.
