Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
I told my employer that I needed surgery (hip replacement) and three days later they laid me off. They did continue my medical benefits for two months rather than the one month which was offered in the severence package. Approximately a month after they laid me off, they hired someone for my position as a construction manager. This happened in 2008. I was unemployed for close to a year, I am now working in IL while my family still resides in Florida. I had to leave the state because I could not find employment. I have gone through all of my savings and 401K. Do I have any options or rights regarding this situation?

I would need other questions answered. Did you take FMLA leave? What was the cause of the required surgery? How many employees at your former employer? Did you sign a severance agreement? If so normally they contain releases. Feel free to check out my employee rights web site at www.takethisjobnshoveitblog.com or my web site www.behrenlaw.com
