Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

travel time pay

Wondering if a transit bus operator is entititled to travel time pay, when being relieved of duty,in another far remote area other than his original bus garage,to get back to the garage, via company car/bus or personal car.Bus operator has no choice but to go back to main garage, this benefits the company and operator would NOT be doing this on his own,but has no choice, because his private vehicle is at the original home base bus garage from the start of his day, when he reported to work. This benefits the company because it saves the company from putting/using an additional bus.Im under the understanding, that if it benefits the company or is required by the company, the travel time is compensable!! Advise/Thank You!!!

Re: travel time pay

The law has differing standards on what constitutes "compensable" time versus non-compensable, and as you may know, the U.S. Supreme Court recently decided an important case in a similar area. As a result, please consult with a wage & hour attorney to understand what your specific rights may be, and please feel free to contact us for further assistance.
