Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

unfair

If Florida is a at-will state, hire and fire without cause, which gives employers all rights, then why cant i quit my job on a whim. I quit my position of employment without notice, and my employer cut my hourly pay from 8.00 hr to minimum wage which is 5.15 on my following paystub. Is this legal. Something in the state of Florida is not right if this is allowed. I should have the same rights as my employer, dont u think. Thank you.

Re: unfair

This is NOT legal. If the hours were already worked, your employer does not have the right to reduce your pay for wages already earned. Your recourse, however, is to file a small claims lawsuit against him or her/it.

Re: unfair

You are correct. Your employer cannot reduce your hourly wages after you have worked them simply because you quit. You have an action in small claims, including possibly attorney's fees.

Good luck.
