Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
Unfair Loss of Job Duties
Both my husband and I work for a non profit organization. He was fired last Friday. At the Board meeting held on Tuesday the Chairman reported the actions taken by the Executive Committee. Someone asked about my status. The Chairman reported that she wanted me gone since she claimed I called her a bitch. The Board would not support her about me and 3 or more of them abstained from the vote on my husband. Now all of my job duties have been removed and all I have left is a telephone. I do not know who is doing this because the other staff and the Chairman will not respond to my questions that I submitted in written form.
What can I do about this, do I have any legal steps I can and should take???
She is just trying to make me so upset that I will quit.

Re: Unfair Loss of Job Duties
This may be discrimination based on marital status. Feel free to call me during the week to review the matter in more detail. We can determine whether you have a legitimate discrimination claim and what to do, with or without a lawyer. You can also bring a marital discrimination claim by yourself, for free, by contacting either the EEOC, the Florida Human Relations Commission, or the county human rights commission in the county where you work.
Good luck.
