Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Unpaid over-time punitive damages

I have a pretty solid case of unpaid overtime for the past 3 years. I understand that if the court finds in my favor, I may actually be awarded ''double'' the amount due. My question is: Are punitive damages possible, when/if it is proven that the company I worked for knowingly withheld overtime pay and/or terminated me after i complained about not getting overtime pay legally due?

The "double" damages are the penalty for their failure to pay OT in the first place. However, if they fired you because you opposed an unlawful employment practice, that would be a separate claim under a different law that potentially would entitle you to compensatory and punitive damages.
