Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
Vacation Pay and unemployment
If I was fired from a company, do they have to pay me my accrued vacation time? and will I be eligible for unemployment? Thanks.

Re: Vacation Pay and unemployment
Although there is no Florida law requiring the payment of accrued vacation, the argument is that you have earned it as part of your compensation for working so should receive it.
Check your employee manual to see if there is a policy for termination pay, including what happens to accrued vacation. It may say that payments are not paid, and if you signed off on it, that would be a valid agreement. If it does not, or you did not sign off, or there is no policy, make the above argument to the employer. You can tell them you will file a claim with the Florida Division of the US Wage and Hour Office. They are at 954.356.6896.
As for unemployment, you are entitled to it (except in certain extreme situations)and should file immediately.
Good luck.
