Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

wages not paid

on december 18,2002 I was fired from my job. I asked when I would recieve my final paycheck and was told that I would recieve it on the following sheduled pay period. I waited till that day and was told that the buisness was going bankrupt chapter 11 and that the employer did not therefore have to pay the wages owed to me. I want to know if I can get my pay or not? I have a copy of my time card and will be happy to share it with you if you need it.

If your former employer is bankrupt, you would be owed money like all of their other creditors. You could therefore file a claim in bankruptcy, but that is the only real shot of getting paid--and not so good at that (unfortunately).
