Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
Whistleblower??
I was employeed until today as a medical assistant. Recently ( last week) I contacted the Radiology Board regarding radiation badges. The inspector came out to the Office where I work. During the conversation he told me that I was as risk for being fined if I continued to take xrays ( I am unlicenced). I informed my employer of this, and the very next day I was let go. During the 6 months I was there, I had no disiplinary actions ( verbal or written). I understand that FL is a right to work state. I am wondering if this sounds like unlawful termanation secondary to the Whistle blower law?

You may have a whistleblower claim but it depends upon more facts which you have not presented. Check out the website www.whistleblowers.org. which may have some useful information for you. Also, you should seek a consultation with an employment attorney.

Depending upon the specifics of what you discussed with your employer and the action taken, you could have an actionable claim. Please consult with an employment attorney to determine what your rights may be.
