Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
Work absences
What circumstances may an employer demand a doctor's medical release to allow a person to come to work? Also, is it discrimination to require a release of a person whom calls in sick while not requiring a release of another person for the same reason?

Re: Work absences
Under almost any, assuming you do not have an employment contract that states otherwise, your employer can ask for almost anything. While you do not have to give it to them, if you don't they may terminate you, or take any other actions. Florida is an at-will employment state. If they are discriminating based upon race, religion, disability, sex, age, and so forth, then you may have a cause of action, but almost certainly would have to show a course of discriminatory conduct, not a one time event.
