Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

I work for a large hospital system. They, all campus' and offices have become a smoke free environment as of Nov. 1st. I work in the home healthe dept. I drive my own car from home to home 8-10 hrs daily. I do get paid a small amount for milage, much less than the govt. rate. I have been told that I cannot smoke in my car during work hours or I will be fired. I do treat patients in their home, who smoke. I have been told that if any complaints are rendered related to my smelling of smoke I will be fired. Can they do that?
