Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

I work as a real estate agent in Florida. I was with the same company for 12 years. I had a disagreement with the owner. A few days later I get a letter saying that I was terminated from the company.

The next day, I got a job with another real estate company and thought everything would be fine. I was wrong.

During the time, before I got the letter, my previous employer contacted my corporate accounts and told them that I had been terminated. She had all of my accounts switched over to her name and some other agents that work with her.

When I contacted my corporate accounts about this, they would not give my accounts back, because they got a letter saying I was terminated. This cost me around 35 listings and tens of thousands in commisions.

Do I have any recourse?

Is there some kind of contract that you had with your former employer? You could have legal claims against your former employer but you should speak with an employment law attorney to discuss these issues.
