Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

I work for a small company that just opened, i work there for about 20 hours a week. I agreed verbally with him that i would help him out until the company accrued enough money to pay out wages. but legally how long can he do this for because i am not a volunteer, and i did not sign any papers
