Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Worker Dismissal

Can a worker be dismissed from a company like a landscaping company because the worker THEMSELVES doesn't have personal transport available to them 5 days a week even though they are 'car pooling' with an employee and arriving for work on time? Management is saying it is because of prior incidents.

Re: Worker Dismissal

Florida is an "employment at will" State, which means that an employer is legally permitted to terminate the employment relationship for any reason at any time - - which includes a good reason, a bad reason, or no reason at all. Employers are generally prohibited from firing someone based upon protected characterics such as age, race, gender, national origin, religion, disability, and certain other traits specifically protected under statutes.
