Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
I have been working at my job since February 2011. I have not missed any time and have been told by my supervisor that the owner (Doctor) is happy with my performance. The issue I am having is the Doctor is verbally abusive and calls me and another female employee names such as "stupid bitch." There is another employee who has witnessed this. The Doctor says things like "all these women in here and there is no coffee made!" I have seen him rip a phone from the wall and slam it to the floor. He yells very loudly at us and slams things sometimes startling me. I do not want to go back to work tomorrow and I want to know if I can collect unemployment or file some type of claim to make up for lost wages

If you voluntarily walk out, based upon the conduct I don't know that you would be entitled to receive unemployment, probably not enough. You might want to put a complaint in writing to the dr, explaining how his conduct is causing your problems with your performance at work. You might also want to search for other employment, just because your boss is a jerk does not mean that legally you can do much about it.
