Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Working through lunch

I work behind the counter at a paint store from 8 to 5.

I'm paid a salary.

Can my employer legally make me work without a lunch break?

i.e. wait on customers while trying to eat.

Re: Working through lunch

An employer can require you to work through lunch. However, if you were paid by the hour that would then be time you must be paid for. As it appears you work 9 hours a day and perhaps over 40 hours a week, you may want to speak with an employment attorney to determine if you should be paid hourly. If you are paid salary when you should be paid by the hour, your employer may owe you overtime.
