Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

I was working for 2 1/2 years at a "Boat Brokerage". I was hired as a secretary. After I was hired I was told I would be paid as a "Contractor" and that I would have to pay my own taxes. I really needed a job so I didn't complain. When I hired someone to do my taxes they told me my boss could get in trouble paying me this way because I really wasn't a contractor.

They just laid me off with no severence pay and I can't even get unemployment because I could not pay into it.

Can I sue my boss now because of the way he was paying me with out taking taxes out and unemployment tax. He did give me vacation days and sick pay, but didn't want me to be consider an employee.

Please let me know if I have a case.

I have some cases just like this right now. First, you need to appeal the unemployment decision ASAP to tell them you were an employee and should be getting unemployment.
