Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Workplace Bullying By Owner/Mgr, (Small Company)

I work for a small co. of less than 15 employees. Except for the owners partner (less than 50%), I am the employee that has been there the longest (11 mo.) I have seen 5 employees quit since my arrival and am told by those employees that they saw as many or more. The owner bully's everyone and fits descriptions of sociopaths personalities I have researched. I have gotten ill quite often since working there and am under constant unnecessary stress. Her business is in questionable successful that I know of, but I know some practices are questionable and clients are not told the truth in many cases. Besides quitting, do I have legal recourse and is it worth it?

Based upon the information provided, it does not appear that there is a cause of action to provide you with any relief. Florida is an at-will employment state, and as such, there is no code of conduct or rules which an employer is required to follow as far as treating employees nicely or politely. Additionally, to the extent you might have a medical condition for which you would want to take time off, the FMLA requires 50 or more employees and at least one year of continuous employment. Sounds like the best thing for you personally is find another place of employment and move on once you have done so.
