Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
Wrongful Termination or Discrimination.
I began working as a ticket agent for Greyhound Lines, Inc on August 12 2003.
I was offered $14 per hour to accept this position. After working for 2 weeks I asked my manager when I would be paid. He became upset and said �Why, don�t you trust me?. Your paycheck is coming from the main office in Dallas, Texas. After working two more weeks I told my manager that my mortgage company required verification of income. He became very upset and told me I was stressing him out about my pay and told me to go home and not come back.
This office has a history of hiring Latin girls and then firing them without pay after several weeks, months.
I know of two other similar cases in the past few months. I believe they think that if they hire Latin girls, we will not take action against them because we may not be legal. I am a legal permanent resident of the United States. I would like to know if this is a possible case of wrongful termination or discrimination.

Yes, I think asking you to work and not paying you is wrong. If what you discribe is true you have a very good case and should talk with any attorney. Feel free to send me an e-mail. The company may be in violation of several laws here.

If you believe you were fired because of your race or national origin (where you were born), then you can file a Complaint with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission because, if proven, such conduct would be illegal. This must be done before you can ever consider filing a lawsuit under the law.
