Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
Wrongful Termination?
Worked at the same company for several years. Always had decent Employee Evaluations and always worked over-time when asked. Worked my way up thru the ranks to the position of Shift Supervisor.
Late last year, I suffered a foot injury on the job and was out of work due to said injury. Company kept trying to get me to come in and work even though the Doctor had not released me to return to work. When I was finally able to return to work on limited light duty, they kept trying to get me to work over-time and do work which the doctor had not cleared me to do. A few times, I had to go home because I was in unbearable pain and they would not let me do something else to get off my feet.
Early this year, I got pneumonia and was out of work for a few days due to illness. Even with the Doctors note, Company wanted me to come in even though I was sick and unable to work.
At the end of February, I arrived at my schedule shift time and was terminated because I was not a Team Player.
Do I have a cause for action? I am concerned I will not be able to find another job because of this termination and also because of my age.
Please advise. Thanks!

Re: Wrongful Termination?
Your situation might depend on how many employees your company has and how much time you were out of work during each of the periods of injury/illness you've described. For example, if your employer was not required to provide you with any specific period of leave but did, it would seem more difficult to prove that your termination violated the law.
