Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
Hello, I believe that I was wrongfully terminated and I believe they also fired me because they didn't want to pay me more. I was "Promoted" to assistant manager and was told i would be getting a pay raise but i did not recieve a pay raise and was going beyond my job duties as a bartender and working as a assistant but making tip wage 5.03/hour. I was joking around with a coworker and said the phrase, " I will cut a bitch," which was not directed to a single person and was a joke and that co worker went and told my manager that it was directed to her and they fired me . I have been with them for almost two years and I believe that my reputation was embarrassed and not to mention my job was taken from me from saying a joke that wasn't directed to a single person. What should I do?

You may very well have been wrongfully terminated. You may also have a wage and hour claim. The best option is to contact an attorney and discuss the situation in-depth. Depending on the circumstance it may be something that can be handled on a contingency fee schedule, meaning you pay nothing unless a settlement is reached.
Good luck.
