Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

I have a 12 month lease that is up this month. During the last couple of months me and my landlord have had problems with him fixing necessary thing causing me to withhold rent. During our last conversation it was determined that after paying my rent for the last two months i would be fine. Then to my surprise today i recieved a notice of termination for failure to pay rent. in the notice it says this if for back pay of late fees for 5 months. is this legal ?

When you say your lease is up this month do you mean September? Do you have proof of your reasons to withhold rent? Were you late in paying rent when due? You can check with an attorney or review the Florida Residential Landlord-Tenant Statutes at http://www.flsenate.gov/Statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&URL=Ch0083/part02.htm.
